In 2004, the Rewards Fundraising program (Rewards) was launched to raise money for schools by using the Canine Butcher Shop dog bones and chews as the fundraising vehicle. The Rewards program was an alternative to the necessary but repetitive fundraisers for chocolate, magazines, and wrapping paper. Although the Rewards program was originally designed to help raise money for schools, the program shifted focus in 2005 to animal welfare groups. Our initial grass roots efforts consisted primarily of generating awareness through event support; e.g. sponsoring and selling products at fundraising events. Although animal shelters and rescue groups are the primary organizations supported by Rewards, all not-for-profit groups are welcome to apply for support. In 2005, USBones.com was launched to support the Rewards Fundraising program through online sales of pet products. While originally limited to the Canine Butcher Shop brand of US manufactured dog bones and chews (thus, "US Bones"), the web site has expanded to include other US manufactured, premium quality pet products (and a few Canadian treats). US Bones currently has over 500 partner groups with 6-12 new groups added each month.
